It’s a sin to talk about Tech-House and not mentioning Terry Lee Brown Junior. He like no other has established Tech-House as independent genre and is one of the most famous electronic musicians in Great Britain and U.S.A.. With Plastic City Terry had the opportunity to release his music at the beginning of his career and over the years the relationship got even closer by publishing four Albums and lots of singles together with Plastic City. He got really successful and nevertheless is precisely aiming at the details of his productions. The third album “From Dub Til Dawn” took nearly two years to be finished and he took all of his knowledge and soul into it – evidence for the fact that Terry is more than a producer but living and loving his music. After a six years album break he presented “Karambolage” – the fourth ace and exceeded the critics’ extreme expectations. The current release is a collection of remixes taken from the album and they make you want to listen to it again and again while remaining self-contained.
A „Swayzak Remix“ ”Across the Ocean” is treated in the best Swayzak minimal manner. The Vocal announces the discreet relation to the original and slightly modulated chords add great space to the sound. The easily scratched but still cultivated leadsynth makes you waggling and is absolutely suited for the dance floor. The spheres in the background have something of magic and thereby attract the listener.
B1:„Fix Me Up Remix“ The creator himself did as well a more discreet mix compared to the original which is nestling to the already cuddled ear. Terry Lee Brown Junior plays with parts of the original and newly arranges them with short delays and loops them whereby he is spreading a fine flavor. He comes up with tiny surprises several times and is dynamically proving his diversity. It’s another re-invention of himself – great!
B2: “Eddie Remix“ Eddie Richards is the institution of the British House and Techno scene and also cares well for a decent remix of Terry Lee’s “Hold Em”. It’s a minimal and clear remix more distant from the original. Eddie insinuatingly uses the vocals and directly spirits them away through great reverb. A breeze of acid and increasing sounds and rhythms create more tension on the dance floor but after the peak still remaining groovy and laid-back. Well elaborated, clear and atmospheric one!
