“Spirit” has the passion for Soul music and captured the feel in all the songs Rob Hardt has produced. It’s this passion for R&B that is missing in music today. (Tom Moulton / New York 2010)

„Spirit“ now offers the full picture. Rob Hardt – mastermind, producer extraordinaire and the man behind current nu-disco act Cool Million – invited a strong line-up of vocalists to his studio to cut a modern soul album which takes us back to the disco jazz era in the mid Seventies, the Phillysound magic and the bright days of early urban funk.

Of course we have Donald McCollum, respected soul man from downtown Chicago, who takes a turn on Brick’s classic and first single release „Dazz“ (which here appears in the as yet unreleased Tom Moulton mix) and the mighty ballad „Real Love“. New face on the block, Brasilian singer Cleo Fernandes throws in her „Favela Funk“, while the absolutely amazing Sulene Fleming from London/England opens „Spirit“ with her smooth Acid Jazz groover „Symetry“.

Fresh voice on the urban scene, C. Robert Walker, Jamaican poet and songwriter Michael Arrk and West London singer Aaron Washington complete the true sound of „Spirit“ with its respectful look into the past and the vision for a soulful future.
