The Swiss producer has been reasonably prolific over the past six years, with dozens of house and techno twelve-inches being released under his Agnès, Ray Valioso, Slowhouse, Cavalier and Benelli guises. Most of his work to date has been geared towards 4/4 audiences, although he's always tried to find the time to produce more introspective material, creating a Modeste track approximately once every two months. The rich textures of his more dance floor orientated material are present on the album, but it's a largely beatless affair, with undulating tones and heavy delay taking centre stage over the course of the nine tracks.

The album goes under the title of A Mountain Of Convenience, and Agnès is only too happy to explain his personal thoughts behind the phrase. "I call this music 'dizzy driving warm ambient scapes'", he explains. "I really enjoyed making that kind of music on my way back home after some long week-ends spend at doing and listening to 4/4 music probably for too long. It was and still is a way for me to clear up my mind, to wash my brain, a process that tends to feel better with myself probably by climbing my own mountain of convenience."
