For those unaware, Duncan Stump (Mock) & Nick Woolfson (Toof) are two of the UK's most creative music producers. Having made a name for themselves via 12" releases on DFA and their own Tiny Sticks imprint; the pair have forged a reputation for brilliantly off-kilter, disco-fuelled house grooves that are laced with originality. Having notched up an impressive amount of releases / remixes in recent years, there's no denying that Mock & Toof know a thing or two about making people dance, but what does a Mock & Toof LP sound like? You may be surprised...

With one listen to the album, you'll soon realise where they're coming from. Boasting nine songs within the thirteen tracks that make up the LP, Including the first single "Farewell To Wendo", "Tuning Echoes" is the sound of two producers coming of age. Citing Roxy Music and David Byrne as major influences, the duo spent over a year in the studio writing and producing material, making sure it sounded exactly how they wanted it. It's an album largely focused on being a listening experience, but that's not to say to say Mock & Toof have abandoned their love of the dancefloor. Tracks such as "The Key", "Underwater" and "Norman's Eyes" all prove this, sure they're not peak-time club fodder, but it's the backbone in these songs that will come alive when played loud by the more discerning DJs. Overall though it's the vibe created by Mock & Toof that will earn "Tuning Echoes" repeat plays this summer, with the help of Gavin and Pollyester, they've created one of the standout soundtracks of 2010 so far.
