The first cd album release on dirtybird features the wildly creative mind of Claude VonStroke. Described as "Bird Brained Genius,” Claude VonStroke makes underground dance music that is both innovative and genre breaking. The debut album, "Beware of the Bird” is a cohesive mixture of sexy tech-funk and raw electro soul that ranges all the way from catchy dancefoor hooks to heartfelt emotion.
Includes Bonus Remix CD with a sleeve image depicting a giant blue bird wrestling a police officer, this probably would have been Rod Hull's favourite techno record of all time, God rest his soul. The slightly absurd imagery that accompanies this release is carried over into the skewed sense of humour permeating VonStroke's productions. 'Deep Throat' in particular is loaded with a kooky menace: in amongst the choppy, funk-imbued rhythms you'll hear some fairly grotesque vocal emissions and the all too distressing line: "I would like to come over. What are you having for dinner?' delivered like Ren (of Ren & Stimpy that is) after a bout of laryngitis. Other notable VonStroke releases are represented here too, such as 'The Whistler', the highly acclaimed 'Who's Afraid Of Detroit?', 'The 7 Deadly Strokes' and 'Beware Of The Bird'. The main disc also features one or two VonStroke remixes plus a live cut, whilst the second disc (exclusive to the limited edition) features a host of techno luminaries remixing VonStroke originals, including John Tejada (who does an especially good job with 'Deep Throat'), Audion, Diplo and DJ Assault.
