Producing since 2002, Chymera's productions effortlessly straddle genres. Never one to follow trends, his releases can range from the introspectively deep to uplifting melodic, and combinations of both. All coming with their own stamp of genius. Observing from the sidelines, 2007 could be considered, to date, a career high. In January he released 'Midnight at the Aquarium' on another hyperXclusive label, 'Mezzotinto'. This was followed by an EP on 'Morse Records' and 'Tishomingo's release. Then came the manically supported 'Umbrella' on Josh Wink's 'Ovum Recordings' which lit up the summer.... and, he rounded out the year with releases on 'NRK', 'ORK' and 'Triangle Recordings'. Pretty impressive eh?

The 'Burnt Sienna' EP opens with the title track, and boy what a track! It could be considered an ode to the soundtrack that initially lit his fire all the way back in 2000. With a nod to Aztec Mystic 'Knights of the Jaguar', 'Burnt Sienna' launches at you with its percussive intro, entwined with the lush warm synths that hark back to escapist productions of the 'Detroit' era. Many try to re-create that sound and fail nowadays, but this is as close as you can get to that bygone era... Excellent!!! With an A side as difficult to follow as that, is it is even more impressive that we are treated to the wonderful 'The Pillar in my Heart'. The skills of their creator are on full display once again and the warmth that emanates from the layered track is a joy to behold. Subtle yet euphoric, this is how all music should sound today.
