Originally created in 1994, Christian Smith's Tronic label holds a special place in techno circles. A leading force in shaping a less purist techno style, Tronic was amongst the first labels to embrace sounds from house and techno to create records that DJ's from both scenes would play.
Spearheaded by Christian Smith's ever-popular productions, the label was re-launched with a bang in 2009 with the re-release of the 1999 hit, Move, which was followed by a run of releases and remixes from Umek, Mark Broom, Fergie, Stryke, Steve Mac, Anton Pieete, Matt Nordstrom, Psycatron, Jim Rivers, Andy Chatterley and Wehbba. 2009 was Christian Smith's busiest year to date. Operating with the authority of a man on a run of form that surpassed even Christian's high expectations, Christian used this new-found form to deliver a seemingly endless supply of chart-topping productions including his Beatport NR.1 Air Miles collaboration with Reset Robot on 100Percent Pure, his Indecent Exposure single which was a mainstay of Beatport's Techno Top 10 through November and December and a pitch perfect remix of the classic Trancesetter's track The Search. Add in an EP and remix on Steve Angello's Size label, a remix of Shara and compiling Renaissance's inaugural Platform compilation and you have the answer as to why Christian goes into 2010 as one of the most sought after producers on the electronic music scene.
With the momentum of his recent successes behind him and the strength of fresh inspiration driving his ambition forward, 2010 promises to be a vintage year for the new, super-charged Christian Smith. Having recently made his second appearance on BBC Radio 1's Essential Mix, Spring 2010 will see Christian embark on a world tour to accompany his soon to be released debut solo album "Director's Cut" in March. Featuring a wealth of trademark high-impact productions, the album marks Christian's evolution as a producer, now recognised across the scene for his melodic and emotive music that has the necessary quality to effortlessly cross genre boundaries and find favour with fans of house, progressiveand techno. An achievement recognised by Christian's recent selection to play alongside Tiesto on his Brazilian tour and appear at the dazzling Sensation White party in Chile. Proof, if it was needed, that it is possible for an already successful producer to reinvent their sound and maintain a relevance and position at the top of electronic music.
