The Ultimate Compression – can it get any harder, crazier and more explosive than with this double mix CD straight from hardtechno hell? This rough and ready ride presented as a versus is a lethal DJ combat – Hard vs. Heavy, Fast vs. Fast, Relentless vs. Die-Hard – that ends in a standoff as mad Matt M. Maddox and loco Tobias Lüke aka O.B.I. are more than an even match. Equally racy, radical and revolting, the two new rising stars of the hard techno scene make themselves heard with this Ultimate Compression… only for the Hardest! The two protagonists, Tobias Lüke aka O.B.I. and Matt M. Maddox, are no novices to the scene – despite their young age, they managed to live the life on the fast lane from the day they first got infected with the techno virus.
O.B.I., who was born in the German town Greven, got in touch with electronic music when he was 12, and subsequently started to spin at 14, making his debut as a club DJ with 18 and an impact as a newcomer contest winner in Münster’s phenomenal Fusion Club. In 2002, after a few successful gigs, he began to organise his own events called TekkTribe which grew into a fully-fledged booking agency and a label in 2003. TekkTribe started to become an established name for Hardtechno as they released records like the infamous “Gehörsturz EP” and organised parties with well-known faces of the scene. Soon, O.B.I. also started to release on other labels. Mattias Mavrovic who was born on small Croatian island and exposed to electronic music when he went to his first rave ever with 15. He already knew at that stage that he wanted to become a producer, but it took him a while to get the gear together to get started. With his open-minded attitude towards music and a deep intrinsic love for hard techno, it was easy for him to connect himself with like minded people, Carl Max and DJ Ogi, who supported the young and ambitious Matt M. Maddox in every possible way. Their engagement helped him to land a string of releases on labels as diverse as Bitshift who would put out his first record ever, "Critical Demonstration", in 2004, followed by releases on Compressed, Crowbar, Brachial, Combat Skill, Friendly Fire, and Fat T.M.
Together, they make their debuts with their own Mix Compilation on Compressed, the legendary hardtechno label which was founded by Michael Burkat in 1999. With their new A&R Felix Kröcher, known for his show on Sunshine Live, this label is now moving from strength to strength with one impressive release chasing the other. This impressive straightforward double mix of these two talented Hardtechno fellas is taking no prisoners.
